A tire flew off an SUV and struck my vehicle while I was stopped at a traffic light. The other driver’s insurance, Liberty, initially declined to pay for the damages, claiming it should be covered under my comprehensive coverage with Progressive. This felt very unfair to me, especially since the total damages amount to $5,000. Although I have a $500 deductible, it’s really the principle of the matter that bothered me. I was unsure how to proceed.
UPDATE
I had the other driver reach out to their insurance, which then called me and admitted it was their fault. They have agreed to cover all expenses. I’ve scheduled an appointment with the body shop for next week. Justice has been served, thanks to the honesty of the other driver. God bless America! The repairs are expected to take about 20 days, and I should be able to arrange for a rental car in the meantime.
I’m glad to hear that the other driver took responsibility, and their insurance is now covering the damages! It can be really frustrating when insurance companies initially deny a claim, so it’s great that you were able to work it out. It sounds like you handled the situation well by having the other party communicate with their insurance. Hopefully, the body shop can get your SUV back to normal quickly, and it’s great that you’re also able to arrange a rental car in the meantime. Wishing you a smooth repair process!
