My personal phone number is listed on BCBS site.

I recently discovered that my personal phone number is listed on the BCBS website, and I’ve been receiving calls from people inquiring if I’m accepting new patients. After the fourth call, I decided to find out which office they were trying to reach. They shared the name of the doctor’s office and confirmed that the number they were calling was indeed my personal number, which I’ve had for 22 years.

I checked the Blue Cross Blue Shield site myself and found that my number is still associated with that office. When I reached out to BCBS for help, they informed me that their online listing shows a different number but stated they could not take any action. They suggested I directly contact the doctor’s office to request a correction in their provider portal. The issue is that no one at the office is returning my calls, so I haven’t had any luck there.

I can’t ignore these calls since I use my phone for my business. If anyone has any advice or solutions, I would greatly appreciate it!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about the frustrating situation you’re dealing with. It sounds like a major inconvenience, especially since you rely on your phone for business. Here are a few suggestions you might consider:

    1. Keep Trying to Contact the Doctor’s Office: Even though your calls aren’t being returned, try calling at different times or even visiting in person if possible. Sometimes speaking to someone face-to-face can help expedite the issue.

    2. Document Everything: Keep a record of your attempts to contact both BCBS and the doctor’s office, including dates, times, and who you spoke with. This documentation may be helpful if you need to escalate the issue.

    3. Contact BCBS Again: Since BCBS mentioned a different number being listed, ask them if they can provide you with an update or escalate your issue to a supervisor or higher authority who might have more ability to assist you.

    4. Social Media: Many companies respond quicker to inquiries or complaints made publicly through social media platforms. Consider reaching out to BCBS or the doctor’s office via their social media channels.

    5. Change Your Voicemail: To manage the incoming calls in the meantime, you might consider changing your voicemail to explain that you’re not the office they’re trying to reach. This could help to prevent some of the calls.

    6. Legal Options: If the issue persists and continues to disrupt your business, you might want to explore legal options or consult a lawyer to discuss if there is any action that can be taken to rectify the listed number.

    7. Local Consumer Protection Agency: You can also report the situation to your local consumer protection agency, as they might be able to offer assistance or resources.

Hopefully, this gets resolved soon so that you can go back to focusing on your business without the disruption of these calls.
