Standalone EPLI Coverage?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on obtaining standalone EPLI coverage. My current workers’ comp provider doesn’t offer EPLI or E&O policies in California, and the company that covers my general liability only includes it within their workers’ comp package.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to secure a separate policy specifically for EPLI or E&O? I’d prefer to keep my current workers’ comp provider since they’re the only ones that integrate with my payroll provider, to my knowledge.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  1. Yes, it’s possible to obtain standalone Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) or Errors and Omissions (E&O) coverage, even if your current workers’ compensation provider does not offer these policies. Many insurance companies specialize in providing EPLI and E&O coverage independently of other insurance lines, so you should have options.

Here are a few steps you can take:

    1. Shop Around: Look for insurance brokers or agents who can help you find carriers that offer standalone EPLI or E&O coverage in California. They can provide you with multiple quotes to compare.

    2. Consider Specialized Insurers: Some insurance companies focus specifically on EPLI or E&O coverage, so it might be worth looking into those options. They often have tailored policies that suit different industries.

    3. Evaluate Coverage Needs: When looking for coverage, make sure to evaluate the specific risks your business faces and choose a policy that adequately addresses those concerns.

    4. Check for Compatibility: If integrating with your payroll system is crucial, discuss this need with potential insurers or brokers to ensure that it remains seamless.

    5. Consult a Professional: If needed, consult with an insurance professional who can help guide you to the right policy without disrupting your current arrangements.

It’s great that you’re exploring options without wanting to radically change your current WC policy, so hopefully, you can find standalone EPLI and E&O coverage that meets your needs!
