Question about Progressive Insurance

I currently have a car insurance policy with Progressive. My monthly payment of $800 is set to be deducted on Monday, March 10th, but I’ve rescheduled it for March 12th. I plan to switch to a different insurance provider on March 10th at 9 AM. My question is: will I need to pay for the 9 hours of coverage I would technically still have on the 10th? Additionally, if I delay my switch for a few days, will I be charged for those extra days or the full $800? Thank you!

  1. When you switch insurance providers, it’s important to understand how billing works. Since your payment is scheduled for March 12th, you will be responsible for the coverage during that time. Typically, insurance companies charge for the entire premium only if the service is used up until the policy’s effective end.

In your case, if you switch providers on March 10th at 9 AM and the premium is billed for coverage through March 12th, you will likely owe for the portion used until you switch. If you were to wait a few days before informing Progressive, you would probably still receive the full amount of the premium charged, as it covers the full period until that payment date.

For the most accurate information, it’s always best to reach out directly to Progressive to clarify how they handle mid-policy changes and billing.
