Delta Dental
I’ve experienced this twice now: I receive my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) in the mail, and it shows that I owe several hundred dollars, which causes me to panic. However, when I check with my dentist’s office, they confirm that my insurance has covered everything, and I only owe what I paid on the day of my visit.
If the office isn’t charging me any additional fees, does that mean everything is fine? Is my dentist just adept at working with Delta Dental?
It sounds like you’re experiencing some confusion between the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Delta Dental and the actual billing from your dentist’s office. It’s not uncommon for EOBs to show amounts that might seem concerning, especially if they don’t match what your dentist is billing you.
If your dentist’s office has confirmed that you don’t owe anything beyond what you paid at the time of your visit, then you should be fine. It’s possible that your dentist is effective at negotiating rates with Delta Dental, or they may be applying certain discounts that aren’t reflected in the EOB.
Just to be safe, I would recommend keeping an eye on future EOBs and your bills to ensure there are no discrepancies. If this continues to be a recurring issue, you might want to contact Delta Dental directly for clarification on why these amounts are showing up, or speak with your dentist’s billing department to confirm that everything is properly handled on their end. Clear communication can help alleviate any future concerns!
