NJ PLIGA

NJ PLIGA Inquiry

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone in New Jersey has experience with PLIGA claims and how long it typically takes to get a determination on eligibility. I was struck by a vehicle while walking two weeks ago, and my orthopedic doctor has recommended an MRI for my foot due to a potential Lisfranc injury and two fractures. However, I’m facing challenges getting the MRI done without an active claim number.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to proceed with the MRI and handle the PLIGA claim later? Any insights into the PLIGA process or tips for expediting it would be greatly appreciated. I’m feeling anxious as I don’t yet know the full extent of the damage to my foot.

Thank you!

  1. I’m really sorry to hear about your accident and the uncertainty with your injury. The PLIGA (New Jersey Property Liability Insurance Guaranty Association) claims process can be a bit slow, but there are some steps you might consider to expedite things.

First, it’s important to prioritize your health. If your doctor has recommended an MRI, you may want to discuss your situation directly with the facility where you’d get the MRI. They might be able to help you set up an appointment based on your medical need, and you can explain your situation regarding the claim. Some providers may offer payment plans or defer payment until your insurance situation is resolved.

Additionally, consider reaching out to PLIGA directly for an update on your eligibility and claim status. They may be able to give you a better idea of the timeline or advice on how to proceed. In some cases, you might also consider speaking with a personal injury attorney who can provide guidance based on your specific situation and help you navigate the process.

Hopefully, you’ll get the treatment you need soon and get clarity on your claim. Take care of yourself!
