I’m on the hunt for a new insurance company because this situation is absolutely ridiculous!
Here’s what happened: I was with Progressive when I got into an accident in January during a snowstorm. The roads were terrible, and I lost control on a patch of ice, ultimately totaling my car when I hit the guardrail.
Fast forward to the last day of February—I bought a new car. Before finalizing my purchase, I called Progressive to add the new vehicle to my policy, and they quoted me $297 a month. I thought that sounded fair, so I confirmed it—twice!
After everything was signed at the dealership, I decided to check with Progressive one last time, just to be sure. To my shock, they suddenly wanted over $1,000 a month! I couldn’t believe it and lost my cool on the phone. Eventually, they “worked something out” and lowered it to $905 a month.
For context, my car payments are $450 a month for a 2018 Genesis. Yes, I have another accident on my record, but it wasn’t my fault (hit-and-run), and I have a couple of tickets from nearly three years ago. Still, I can’t justify their rates. I really need to find a new insurance provider fast!
