Allstate bundling

Looking into Allstate bundling

I’m currently comparing home insurance rates, and Allstate is offering an attractive deal—if I bundle my car insurance with them, I can get a $200 discount.

However, I’m a bit wary. Is this just a ploy to get me hooked, only for them to raise my premiums significantly in the following year? Has anyone had experience with Allstate’s bundling, particularly regarding how car insurance renewals go?

I’ve only had my current home insurance for a year, but I regrettably signed up for a 5% hurricane deductible, which seems to be their only option. So, I’m now looking for policies with lower hurricane deductibles.

  1. It’s great that you’re doing your research before making a decision! Bundling home and car insurance can definitely lead to savings, but it’s wise to be cautious. Many insurance companies offer initial discounts to attract new customers, which can sometimes be followed by rate increases at renewal time.

In my experience, Allstate’s bundling discount can be significant, but it’s important to read the fine print in your policy. Check how often they raise rates and what their customer reviews say about price increases at renewal.

Additionally, given your past experience with a high hurricane deductible, make sure to ask about their hurricane and other natural disaster policies. You might also want to compare quotes with other insurers to see if they can match or beat the bundled offer while providing more favorable terms.

Ultimately, if you’re comfortable with the terms after thorough research, bundling can save you money in the short term. Just make sure you stay vigilant about the renewal rates down the line!
