Stolen Chiminea

Stolen Chiminea

About a month ago, our garage door broke, and after notifying our landlords, they came and removed it. They eventually replaced it with a beautiful new gate.

Unfortunately, during that time, someone entered our garden and took several items, including old broken TVs and bed frames—basically anything metal. While it was at the top of the garden, we were actually relieved since it saved us the hassle of disposing of those things.

Yesterday, with the first nice weather of the season, I decided to start sprucing up the garden in preparation for spring. While jet washing the patio near the house, I noticed that my large chiminea was missing. I feel a bit foolish for not realizing it was gone sooner. I suspect it was taken around the same time as the other items.

Will my home insurance cover this loss?

Thanks for any advice!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your chiminea getting stolen—that’s frustrating! As for whether your home insurance will cover it, it really depends on the specifics of your policy. Many home insurance policies provide coverage for theft of personal property, but it’s important to check the terms and conditions to see if your chiminea is included.

You might want to contact your insurance provider directly to report the theft and see if they can help you with a claim. Be sure to have any relevant documentation, such as photos or receipts, to support your claim. Good luck, and I hope you’re able to resolve it!
