Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a frustrating situation I experienced with my car, which I just bought last Monday. Last night, while I was making a turn, another car cut in front of me and entered my lane, forcing me to hit a curb. As a result, my axle broke. It was too dark to take clear pictures of the damage.
Today, I’m heading to the towing lot to sign over the car to my insurance, so they can inspect it. The towing staff mentioned that it seems to be just the axle that’s damaged. I drive a 2017 Ford Fusion SE with 80,000 miles, and thankfully, there’s no body damage and the other tires are fine. The estimated value of the car is $8,230.
Do you think my insurance will opt to repair the car, or will they just offer me a cash settlement? It’s frustrating because I haven’t even made my first payment yet!
I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. It must be really frustrating, especially since you just got the car. With your insurance, it often depends on the specifics of your policy and the estimated cost of repairs. If the damage is just the axle and there’s no body damage, it’s possible they may opt to repair the car, especially since the value isn’t too far above the repair costs.
In general, if repairs are less than the car’s market value, insurance tends to favor repairing. Since you just got the car, they might want to keep it on the road too. Make sure to communicate clearly with your insurance about the situation and follow their guidance on getting the car inspected. Hopefully, you’ll have some positive news soon! Good luck!
