Have insurance policy number but not company number.

I need some assistance for my mom. Recently, she was involved in an accident where a taxi driver tried to squeeze between the curb and her open car door, which was about to let her Uber passenger out. This resulted in significant damage to her door, and the repair costs are quite high. The incident occurred in the Cook/DuPage County area of Chicago, Illinois.

All legal matters have been addressed, including a police report that provided limited information about the taxi driver’s insurance. Unfortunately, without the company name or phone number, my mom is unable to file a claim. I’ve attached a link to a photo of the taxi driver’s insurance policy number below. My mom is feeling very stressed and has been searching for answers for days. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your mom’s accident; that sounds really stressful for both of you. It’s important to know that you have options to track down the taxi driver’s insurance company. Here are some steps you can take to help your mom:

    1. Contact the Taxi Company Directly: If you have any details about the taxi driver (like their license plate number or the taxi medallion number), you can contact the taxi company directly to report the incident. They may be able to provide the insurance information.

    2. Look Up the Policy Number: In Illinois, insurance companies must be licensed and registered. You can use the policy number from the image to look up the company through the Illinois Department of Insurance website or call them for assistance.

    3. Check with Local Authorities: Since a police report was filed, check with the police department or the records department where the report was filed. They may have additional information that could help.

    4. File a Claim with Her Insurance: If finding the taxi’s insurance proves difficult, your mom can consider filing a claim with her own insurance company. They might cover the damages and pursue the taxi driver’s insurance for reimbursement.

    5. Seek Legal Advice: If the situation continues to be challenging, it may be worth consulting with a lawyer who specializes in accidents or insurance claims for advice tailored to your mom’s specific situation.

I hope these steps can help alleviate some of the stress for your mom. Good luck, and I hope her car gets fixed soon!
