Seeking Guidance: How to Handle Vehicle Damage from an Unsecured Load
Hello, everyone!
I’m reaching out for some guidance regarding a recent incident that impacted my vehicle and left me with some important questions about insurance claims and deductibles.
Earlier today, as I was making my way home, a few pieces of debris – which appeared to be either glass or tiles – fell from an uncovered GMC pickup truck directly onto my car. Initially, I didn’t think the damage was too significant, but after conducting a closer inspection at home, it became evident that my vehicle had sustained several areas of clear damage.
To support my case, I’ve gathered quite a bit of evidence, including:
– Photographs showcasing the damage
– Dashcam footage capturing the moment the debris fell and the truck involved
– A clear shot of the truck’s license plate
– A police report that I filed shortly after getting home
I have already submitted a claim to my insurance provider, along with all the necessary evidence, including the dashcam video and the license plate number. However, I learned that my deductible is set at $1,000.
This leaves me wondering: Is there a way to recover that deductible from the responsible driver since I have their license plate information? If that is a possibility, what would the process entail?
I would greatly appreciate any insights or guidance on this matter, as it’s been quite stressful sorting through the aftermath of this incident.
Thank you in advance for your help!
