Insurance wants proof of license at 18 but I don’t have that card anymore.

Navigating Insurance Challenges: Seeking Guidance on Driver’s License Documentation

After relocating recently, I found myself navigating the complexities of a new insurance plan alongside my partner. One unexpected challenge I faced was related to my driver’s license, specifically the lack of an older license that the insurance company requested.

When I transitioned to this new insurance policy, I obtained a state registration for my driver’s license, which, unfortunately, led to some complications. The insurance agents informed me that my rates would be significantly elevated because I was considered a new driver due to the age of my new license. To remedy this, they required my previous out-of-state license to assess my driving history and potentially lower my premiums.

After an extensive search, I managed to locate my out-of-state license, which I presented to them. However, the agents indicated that this license was still too new, as it was only a year old. To further complicate matters, they now requested my very first driver’s license—something I no longer possess as I began driving at the age of 18 and am now 32.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone has advice on how I might retrieve the necessary documentation or information about my original license. Any tips on handling this situation to avoid being burdened by exorbitant insurance rates would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance!
