Got rear-ended, now my car won’t start after repairs & insurance won’t take responsibility

Navigating the Aftermath of a Car Accident: When Repairs Lead to More Problems

A few weeks back, I found myself in the unfortunate situation of being rear-ended by another driver. After filing a claim with the at-fault party’s insurance, they accepted responsibility and sent my vehicle to one of their approved repair shops to address the damage, primarily to the rear bumper and backup camera.

Initially, the repair shop kept delaying the pickup date, which was already frustrating. Eventually, I received the call I had been waiting for—the car was ready for pickup. However, upon my arrival, I was informed that my vehicle would not start. According to the shop, there was now an issue with the electrical wiring, and they were adamant that it wasn’t their responsibility. To add insult to injury, they requested that I arrange for my car to be towed at my own expense.

Before the accident, my car had been running smoothly. I even drove it to the repair shop without encountering any problems, and the diagnostic tests conducted by the shop had shown no issues other than the broken backup camera they were tasked to repair. Now, I am left with a car that won’t start, a mysterious electrical problem, and a towing bill I hadn’t anticipated.

Naturally, I reached out to the insurance company of the driver who hit me, only to be met with the disappointing news that they no longer considered the situation their responsibility. This left me feeling frustrated and helpless, with a non-working vehicle that is a direct result of someone else’s mistake.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has faced a similar dilemma and what options might be available to me. It feels incredibly unjust to be left in this situation, and I would greatly appreciate any advice or guidance on how to navigate this troubling circumstance.
