Dad won’t let us get our permits due to insurance issues (CA)
My twin brother and I just turned 15 and a half, and we’re excited to get our driver’s permits, just like our friends. However, our dad is against it because he believes adding us to his Tesla insurance will be too costly. We plan to drive a different car, but I couldn’t find any information on Tesla’s website indicating that it would raise the premiums. I’m feeling confused because my dad insists it will be a big expense.
It sounds really frustrating to be in this situation, especially when you’re excited to start driving! One option might be to have a conversation with your dad about the specifics of the insurance costs. It could be helpful to research Tesla insurance and possibly contact them directly to get clarity on how adding two new drivers would affect the rates.
You could also explore different insurance providers to see if you can find a more affordable option. Sometimes, getting quotes from other companies can help your dad see that it might not be as expensive as he thinks.
Another angle could be discussing the benefits of getting your permits, like gaining independence and the experience that comes with driving practice. Just be open and understanding about your dad’s concerns, and hopefully, you can come to a solution together!
