Insurance question for travel trailer.

Insurance Inquiry for Travel Trailer

I’m considering buying a travel trailer to live in and plan to keep it mostly stationary in an RV park. Do I need insurance if it will primarily be parked? I’m in Texas and expect to move it perhaps twice a year. If insurance isn’t mandatory, is there a type of coverage available for the RV that’s similar to homeowners insurance?

  1. It’s great that you’re considering insurance for your travel trailer, even if it will be stationary most of the time. While Texas does not legally require insurance for RVs that are parked, it’s still highly recommended to protect your investment.

You can look for a policy specifically designed for RVs or travel trailers. These policies often include coverage similar to homeowners insurance, such as personal liability, personal property coverage for your belongings, and coverage for any damage to the trailer itself. Some providers also offer options for roadside assistance and coverage while you’re towing it.

Since you’re only planning to move it a couple of times a year, you might also want to consider a storage or stationary policy that could be more affordable. Be sure to check with different insurance companies to find coverage that best fits your needs. It’s always better to have protection, even if it’s just sitting around!
