No Statement

I recently had an accident, and both the police and my insurance have confirmed that I’m not at fault. I’ve been cooperative with both my insurance and the other party’s insurance. However, it’s been over a week and a half, and the other person’s insurance still hasn’t received a statement from them. Is this typical? Are there laws that require people to provide statements in these situations?

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your accident, but it sounds like you’re handling everything the right way by cooperating with both insurance companies. It’s not uncommon for the process to take some time, especially if the other party is slow to provide their statement. While there aren’t specific laws that require someone to give a statement within a certain timeframe, insurance companies typically want to resolve claims as quickly as possible.

Delays can happen for various reasons, such as the other person being unresponsive or needing more time to gather their thoughts or documentation. If it continues to drag on, you might want to follow up with your insurance adjuster to see if they can provide any updates or help expedite the process. Staying proactive can sometimes help move things along!
