Car Trouble Update
Hey everyone, I need to share some frustrating news. I just got my car— a 2017 Ford Fusion SE— last Monday, and last night, I was involved in an accident. While I was making a turn, another car cut in front of me due to a flashing red light, causing me to hit a curb and break my axle. It was dark, so I couldn’t get a good picture at the scene.
Today, I’m heading to the towing company lot to sign the car over to my insurance, so they can take a closer look. The towing crew suggested the damage is likely just the axle. Thankfully, there’s no body damage and the other tires are fine. The estimated value of my car is around $8,230.
Do you think my insurance will cover the repairs or just offer me a cash settlement? I haven’t even made my first payment yet. Any advice would be appreciated!
I’m really sorry to hear about your car! It must be incredibly frustrating, especially since you just got it. In situations like this, insurance companies typically assess the extent of the damage before deciding whether to repair or total the vehicle. Since you mentioned that the body of the car is fine and the only issue seems to be the axle, there’s a good chance they might opt for repairs, especially if the cost of the repair is significantly less than the estimated value of the car.
Keep in mind that insurance policies can vary widely, so it might help to review your coverage details. If your car is deemed repairable and the costs are under the value of the car, they would likely move forward with the repairs. Since you haven’t made your first payment yet, it may be stressful, but staying in contact with your insurance agent for updates will help clarify the situation. Good luck, and I hope everything gets sorted out quickly!
