Aflac Coverage Question – No Specific Accident Date
Hi everyone! I’ve had Aflac short-term disability and accident insurance since 2023, but I’ve never had to use it until now. I recently discovered that I have an annular tear in my disc, and my doctor has recommended minimally invasive spine surgery.
The issue is that I can’t attribute this injury to a specific accident—there isn’t a clear event like a car accident that caused it. It’s simply an injury that happened for unknown reasons, and it’s resulted in severe pain that prevents me from sitting comfortably for more than 20 minutes. I’ve been receiving physical therapy and other treatments.
I would love to utilize Aflac to help cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses, but I’m curious if the policy would cover this under the accident clause despite the lack of a specific accident date. I hope that makes sense!
Hi there! I completely understand your situation and the frustration of dealing with an injury that doesn’t have a clear accident date. Aflac’s accident insurance typically provides coverage for injuries resulting from specific accidents, so it may be challenging to get coverage for your disc injury if it wasn’t linked to a specific event.
However, since your injury is causing severe limitations and requires treatment, it’s worth reaching out to Aflac directly to discuss your case. They will be able to explain the specifics of your policy and let you know if there’s any coverage available for your situation. Additionally, you might want to also check if you have any provisions under your short-term disability coverage, as it might provide benefits due to your inability to work caused by the injury.
Best of luck, and I hope you find relief soon!
