Expenses Inquiry
Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago, I was involved in a car accident and have begun the process of filing a claim for expenses and injuries in the UK.
I work from home, primarily sitting for long periods during calls. However, my physiotherapist advised me to limit my sitting time to no more than 30 minutes at a stretch.
Would a sit/stand desk be considered a reasonable expense to submit to the insurance?
Prior to the accident, I was able to remain seated for hours while on calls or working on my computer. Now, however, I find it challenging to continue in that way, and my options are either to invest in a sit/stand desk or take sick leave while waiting for my employer to potentially provide one—though that could take around six months! 😂
Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi there,
I’m really sorry to hear about your accident, and I hope you’re on the mend. In terms of your question about a sit/stand desk, it definitely seems reasonable to consider it an expense related to your recovery and ability to work. Since your physio has specifically advised against sitting for extended periods, it makes sense that a sit/stand desk would help you manage your work responsibilities while adhering to their recommendations.
When filing your claim, it would be helpful to include any documentation from your physio that supports the need for the desk as part of your rehabilitation and to explain how it will enable you to perform your job effectively post-accident.
Best of luck with your claim, and take care of yourself during your recovery!
