Mobilitas Insurance agent called about an accident- not my insurance, no accident

I received multiple calls from Mobilitas Insurance regarding an accident, but I don’t have any coverage with them and I haven’t been in an accident—I’ve had my car in the shop for the last week! I let the calls go to voicemail and they provided a claim number, but when I tried to call back, the number didn’t work.

At first, I thought it might be a scam, but after researching the company, it looks like they’re associated with rideshare services like Lyft and Uber. If someone alleges you were involved in an accident, is it normal to receive this many calls?

It seems like there’s been some mix-up with the information, but should I reach out to them anyway? This is my first experience with something like this, so I’d appreciate any advice! Thanks!

  1. It sounds like a frustrating situation to be in! It’s not uncommon for insurance companies to reach out when they believe there has been an accident involving one of their clients, even if you weren’t aware of it. Since you’ve been getting multiple calls and your car is in the shop, it’s possible that there was a mix-up or that your information was mistakenly linked to someone else’s claim.

Given that you verified the company is legitimate but are concerned about the calls, here’s what you might consider doing:

    1. Contact Mobility Insurance: Even if the number they called you from isn’t working, try to find a different contact number for their customer service through their official website. It’s important to clarify that you were not involved in any accident.

    2. Keep Records: Document the details of the calls, including the time, date, and any information they provided. This could be useful if you need to escalate the issue.

    3. Monitor Your Insurance: Since it’s possible that someone mistakenly filed a claim against you, it’s a good idea to monitor your insurance documents and statements to ensure there’s nothing amiss.

    4. Be Cautious: If you continue to receive calls from unfamiliar numbers, remain cautious and don’t provide personal information until you verify the identity of the caller.

It’s understandable to feel uneasy, especially since this is your first experience with something like this. Reaching out to the company and explaining the situation should help clarify what’s going on. Good luck, and I hope it gets sorted out soon!
