NYS – looking to switch insurance carriers

Seeking Advice on Switching Insurance Carriers in NYS

I’m currently with Geico, and my premium just increased by another $150 for the next six months. They attribute the hike to New York State regulations, but my rates have been escalating since I joined in April 2021.

I’m interested in exploring full coverage options for my car, but I’m uncertain about which companies are actually affordable these days.

For those in New York who have switched away from Geico, which insurance provider did you choose? Did they offer comparable coverage at a lower price? Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I totally understand your frustration with rising premiums! Many people in NYS are feeling the pinch lately. If you’re looking to switch from Geico, a few companies that other drivers have mentioned as being competitive in terms of pricing and coverage include:

    1. Progressive – Known for their user-friendly online quotes and a variety of coverage options.
    2. State Farm – Offers a good range of discounts, especially for safe drivers.
    3. Liberty Mutual – Often provides competitive rates and customizable plans.
    4. Allstate – They frequently have promotions and discounts for bundling insurance policies.
    5. Nationwide – Known for good customer service and accident forgiveness options.

It’s always a good idea to get quotes from multiple companies to compare coverage limits, deductibles, and any available discounts. Make sure to look into any regional insurers as well, since they might offer more tailored coverage options at a better price. Also, don’t forget to check for discounts related to factors like your driving history, mileage, or even affiliations with certain organizations. Good luck with your search!
