Michigan Windshield Insurance Inquiry
Hello everyone,
I’m currently with Progressive and I have a crack on my 2024 Honda Civic Sport that’s about 6 inches long, maybe even a bit more.
My deductible is $2,000, and Safelite has quoted me $960 for the repair.
Does this mean I’ll have to pay $960 out of pocket?
Am I allowed to go to a different repair shop and then get reimbursed by Progressive for whatever I end up paying?
I would really appreciate any advice or information, as I’m new to the United States! Thank you!
Hi there!
Welcome to the U.S.! I understand how confusing insurance can be, especially when you’re new here.
Regarding your question, since your deductible is $2,000 and Safelite quoted you $960 for the repair, you’ll have to cover the entire $960 out of your own pocket. This is because your deductible is higher than the cost of the repair.
If you choose to go to a different shop and they charge less than your deductible, you would still be responsible for that full amount. However, if the cost of the repair exceeds your deductible in another shop, you might want to check if Progressive offers any reimbursement options, especially if you’re paying for the service out of pocket.
It’s best to reach out directly to Progressive to clarify your options, as they can provide specific guidance based on your policy.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your repair!
