Warning: SUNLIFE INSURANCE (yoursimplecare) – A Cautionary Tale
I was introduced to SUNLIFE INSURANCE (yoursimplecare) while getting my taxes done at Taxtore Miami, and I now regret taking their recommendation. If you’re considering doing business with them, I urge you to think twice and avoid sharing any personal information, particularly your Social Security number. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.
In 2022–2023, I entrusted them with my information to enroll me in an Oscar Insurance plan through Obamacare. After canceling my policy at the end of 2023, I received confirmation of my cancellation from Oscar. To my shock, a year later, I learned they had re-enrolled me in a 2024 plan without my consent, despite my clear communication that I was no longer eligible for Obamacare. I assumed everything was settled since I had received a cancellation letter and stopped my payments. However, it turns out Oscar allowed them to re-enroll me on a “zero” payment plan, which resulted in a hefty IRS bill for “using these benefits.”
This appears to be a recurring issue affecting numerous clients. After sharing my experience in a Google review, I received a call from them, where they simply insisted I needed to pay. When I pressed the representative about their questionable practices, he abruptly ended the call.
I’ve learned that many others have encountered similar problems, with IRS penalties ranging from several thousand dollars to as much as $5,000.
I plan to report this situation to the IRS and file a complaint for insurance fraud with the Florida Department of Financial Services. I also intend to reach out to the FBI tip line. If you have faced similar issues, I encourage you to take action as well.

A quick search of the owners’ names might reveal more concerning information. Based on my experience and what I’ve heard from others, I strongly advise steering clear of this company. Additionally, the owner’s phone number seems fake, and there are multiple eviction records associated with him. Protect your personal information and be cautious about doing business with them.
