Vision Insurance Inquiry

Hey everyone! I just got vision insurance through my employer, and I have a question about the frame benefits. The policy states: “Plan pays 100%, $125 allowance, 20% off balance over $125.”

Does this mean I can choose frames that cost up to $125 without any out-of-pocket expense? I’m a bit confused by the wording. Any clarity would be appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Hi! It can be a bit confusing, but here’s how it works: your vision insurance will cover the full cost of frames up to $125. This means you can choose frames that cost $125 or less without having to pay anything out of pocket. If you choose frames that cost more than $125, you’ll pay the full $125, and then you’ll get a 20% discount on the amount that exceeds $125. For example, if you choose frames that cost $150, you would pay $125 (which is covered by insurance) plus 20% of the $25 overage. So, it would be $125 + $5 = $130 total. Hope that helps clarify things!
