Home insurance will quadruple, any CA home insurers that are solid left?

Is there any reliable home insurance left in California? My annual premium is set to increase from $2,100 to $8,500 for my one-story, 1,900 sq ft home in San Jose. I’ve been with Amica since 2017 and have never filed a claim. When I called about the increase, they mentioned it’s due to the impact of fires. I attempted to get quotes online from major insurers like Liberty, AAA, Nationwide, Allstate, and Farmers, but none of them are offering new policies in California.

  1. It’s definitely concerning to see such a dramatic increase in home insurance premiums, especially when you have a solid history as a homeowner. The rise in premiums related to fire risks has affected many homeowners in California, particularly in areas prone to wildfires.

While it sounds like you’ve already explored some major insurers, here are a few additional options you can consider:

    1. State Farm: They often have various coverage options, and it’s worth reaching out to see if they are still offering policies in your area.

    2. Chubb: They specialize in high-value homes and may have more flexible coverage options compared to others.

    3. Hippo Insurance: This is a newer insurer that may offer competitive rates and modern coverage options.

    4. USAA: If you’re eligible (military service members and their families), they often provide excellent rates and coverage.

    5. Local Insurers: Sometimes smaller or regional insurers may have better options as they focus more on their local markets.

It may also be helpful to work with an independent insurance agent who can shop around for you and find the best rates available. Additionally, consider looking into implementing some fire mitigation strategies around your home, which could potentially help lower your premiums over time or at least show insurers that you’re taking proactive steps. Good luck!
