Midly annoyed with State Farm

Slightly Frustrated with State Farm

I recently got into a minor fender bender in a parking lot. The other driver was attempting to turn onto the main drive, while I was passing a parked car, making me difficult to see. Both vehicles sustained minor scrapes—about $1,000 worth of damage on each side.

After exchanging information, I found out the other driver is an attorney who works with State Farm. I had a dash cam that recorded the incident, but unfortunately, the angle didn’t capture the actual collision.

I submitted my details and the video to State Farm, and they responded the next day. They labeled the situation as inconclusive, declaring no one at fault, which means we both have to pay our deductibles.

It feels like State Farm may have chosen the option that would minimize their costs, especially given how quickly they reached their decision.

  1. I can understand why you’re feeling frustrated. It’s definitely not the outcome you were hoping for, especially since it sounds like you had evidence that could have clarified the situation. Sometimes insurance companies can take a very conservative approach to claims, especially when there’s not a clear view of the incident. It does feel like they prioritize minimizing costs over the specifics of each case. It might be worth reaching out to them for more clarity on their decision-making process or if there’s a way to appeal it. Hopefully, you can get it resolved in a way that feels fair to you!
