Which insurance?

Which insurance should I reach out to?

I was involved in a car accident on Saturday, where the other driver was at fault. My insurer, Progressive, has informed me that they can’t proceed unless it’s confirmed that the other driver lacks coverage. The other driver was insured through Direct, and she has already initiated a claim with them. I also contacted Direct today and provided my details.

The situation complicates things, as she was driving for Uber Eats at the time of the accident. I’m aware that Uber has specific insurance policies that vary based on whether a driver is actively picking up or delivering food.

So, my question is: Should I contact Uber Eats to file a claim as well? I’m really hoping to get the front-end damage on my 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche repaired rather than having it totaled. I rely on this truck and doubt I would receive enough compensation for a new one if it is deemed a total loss.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your accident! Given the circumstances, it’s definitely a good idea to contact Uber Eats regarding the accident. Since the other driver was working for Uber Eats at the time of the incident, they may have additional insurance coverage that could apply to your situation, especially if the driver was actively picking up or delivering food.

Here’s what you might want to do:

    1. Contact Uber Eats Support: Reach out to Uber Eats customer support and provide them with all the details of the accident. They can inform you if any insurance policies apply and what steps you should take next.

    2. Document Everything: Keep a detailed record of all communications with the other driver’s insurance company, Uber Eats, and your own insurer. This will be helpful if there are disputes or additional claims down the line.

    3. Follow Up with Direct Insurance: Since the other driver’s insurance (Direct) is already involved, make sure you follow up with them to ensure your claim is progressing.

    4. Consider Legal Advice: If things become complicated or if you’re not getting the responses you need, it might be wise to consult with a legal professional who specializes in auto accidents. They can help you navigate the complexities of insurance and ensure you get the compensation you deserve.

I hope your truck gets the repairs it needs without too many complications!
