Progressive cut my insurance premium in half after I called them

I just had my insurance premium slashed in half by Progressive after making a simple phone call!

After moving to the US from Europe over a year ago, I chose Progressive because they cover drivers without a state license (I live in Massachusetts). For a long time, I was paying $1,200 every six months, until a recent conversation with my friend — who also moved here at the same time — revealed that he was paying significantly less for a newer muscle car.

Curious, I contacted Progressive for a reevaluation of my policy, and to my surprise, my premium was reduced to $640 every six months! I can’t help but wonder if they entered some incorrect information the first time around. Is there any chance I could seek reimbursement for the overpayment, considering I accepted their original terms? It seems unlikely, as I did agree to the conditions at the outset.

Interestingly, my friend has the same coverage as I do, yet he started off with a much lower rate of around $600.

  1. It’s great to hear that you were able to get your insurance premium significantly reduced after speaking with Progressive! It’s always worth it to shop around and ask for a re-quote if it seems like you’re paying more than you should.

As for the initial price you were charged, if you believe that it was due to incorrect information on their part, it might be worth reaching out to Progressive’s customer service to express your concerns. While you accepted the initial quote, if they did indeed enter something incorrectly, they may be willing to review your case and possibly offer some sort of compensation or refund. It’s always a good idea to keep records of your communication and any relevant details about your policy.

Ultimately, since insurance pricing can vary based on many factors including driving history, vehicle type, and location, it’s possible that your situation just needed re-evaluation. It’s always a good practice to periodically check your rates to ensure you’re getting the best deal. Good luck!
